2005 Event Summary

During 2005 Traditions Fire Company and Museum, Inc. participated in sixteen public interest events.  The largest of these events was the Great Plains Fire Muster on June 25.  At this event vintage and new fire equipment was displayed and several organizations provided fire prevention and safety information to 700 young and adult visitors.  The visitors also enjoyed interactive water-related events.

We participated in the Merriam Turkey Creek Days Parade in May, the Johnson County Fair Parade at Gardner in August and Johnson County Old Settlers’ Parade at Olathe in September.

Static displays were provided at The Home Depot in June and in October, the Independence, Missouri Fire Muster in July and at Discover Olathe at the Great Mall of the Great Plains in July.  At each of these events we displayed our ladder truck and provided fire prevention and safety information.  At four other events we also provided rides on the ladder truck.  These were for wedding parties in July and November, a birthday party in September and a neighborhood party, also in September.

Our life-safety program was presented five times in 2005 for two service organizations and at three neighborhood watch meetings.  At these events we provided fire prevention and safety information, details about the E.D.I.T.H. program and other life-safety ideas for youth and adults.

The volunteers of Traditions Fire Company and Museum, Inc. donated over 670 hours in providing these public service events.
